In October 2013, GBAS flight tests have been performed, as part of SESAR project 9.12, in Frankfurt and Toulouse airports. The project is assessing the use of GBAS as an alternative to the Instrument Landing System (ILS) for Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) in Cat II/III conditions. The EUROCONTROL Pegasus Team was involved in the trials to collect GNSS data on board the Honeywell aircraft for post processing.
The Pegasus toolset was used to analyse these data, complementing analysis made on others collected from the ground earlier in the project. This second campaign is bringing interoperability tests one step further, contributing to the assessment of the full GBAS CAT II/III concept
